Mars Pathfinder Landing Site Interactive VRML Visualization
This is an interactive VRML 2 model of the Mars Pathfinder Landing Site
showing a rough estimate of Sojourner's traverse & current position
(last updated August 18 , 1997). Numerous Anchor links are present within this
model, which when clicked will update the bottom frame with more information
on the region of interest.
Guide to Model Annotation
- The rover model shows the latest position of Sojourner
on the Landing Site (Last Update August 18, 1997).
- Arrows (Green Arrows for July & Purple Arrows for August)
show a very rough estimate of Sojourner's path to date (August 18, 1997).
- Movie Projector Icons ( Green Icons for July Purple Icons for
August ) act as links to short animated gif movie clips of Sojourner's
activity within the area. Click on the icon & you will load
short movie in the annotation frame.
- Billboards within the scene expand with small images as you
come close to them. The Text Areas of these billboards provide a link
to images & data for the region of interest. Clicking on the text
area will load a description (with images) in the annotation frame.
Important Note: The images and movie clips used for the annotation
of this interactive model have been significantly reduced in size and
resolution from the published science data in order to guarantee quick
download time.
Implementation Note: Depending upon you browser & display
configuration, you may experience unwanted changes of color in the frames
" Colormap Flashing ". The easiest solution for this is to select
the frame that is displaying strange colors & the colormaps should
reset to the correct colors.
